Monthly Budget Worksheet
Where Exactly is Your Money Going? We Shall See..
Whether you make $100K or $1k, you should know exactly where your coins are going. It’s so easy to just swipe, swipe, swipe, until you can’t swipe anymore (then that’s when things get awkward). Use my monthly budgeting worksheet to track your finances and avoid any embarrassing, “card declined” moments.
Here’s how I use it…
Determine how many expenses you have (Include EVERYTHING)
Some of mine are rent, car note, groceries, train fare, gas, hair (and the list goes on and on). It’s so easy to just say “I have rent and a car note” because they are usually your largest expenses, but just know, those smaller expenses will take their cut too! So be proactive and include everything in your budget. Down to small bills like Netflix and Apple Music. Cause they’re taking their money regardless!
Know your bill due dates
This is super important because once you know this you will be able to move accordingly.
For example, if I know they take my car note money on the 3rd of every month, I know on the 1st and 2nd I need to chill on the random splurging. Because whether I’m ready or not, on the 3rd they will be taking my car note money and I will be shitty if it’s not enough in there. Not to mention I will get hit with an overdraft fee. So again, be proactive and know when your money is leaving your account. Tracking all these dates may seem tedious, but do it once so you don’t have to do it again.
Last but not least: pay your bills as soon as you get paid!
I cannot stress this enough! Literally when I get paid the first thing I do is pull up my monthly budget worksheet and start paying bills. I don’t do it because I enjoy it, I do it because I like to see how much money is really mine. Because as mentioned above, these companies are going to take their cut regardless! And overdraft fees are real! So just do the right, adulting thing, and pay who you owe when you’re supposed to. Just get it out the way! One less thing to worry about. Yes, it’s annoying, but that’s adulting for ya.
